poet, painter, writer
Yesterday evening I spent an hour or so in the company of Kenneth Steven, Pauline Prior-Pitt and a gathering of poetry lovers from the Outer Hebrides; the East Midlands; Shropshire and Egypt! Kenneth was zooming into our sitting rooms from the little island he lives on, just off the coast of Argyllshire.
We were there for one of Pauline’s ‘Last Thursdays’ which have been running for many years now, usually held at Taigh Chearsabhagh Arts Centre on North Uist.
Kenneth’s reading was unique and hugely enjoyable. He not only read to us from some of his many poetry collections, but also told us mesmerising stories that shared with us his love of landscape ~ especally Iona, St Kilda and the place he has called home for the last ten years, Seil ~ and his love of the history, archaeology and faith systems of those ancient places. It was a very special evening.
