Our groups for book lovers
More about our groups
Our regular, monthly groups are Poetry Breakfast and We Need to Talk About Books. Both are friendly, informal gatherings and newcomers are always very welcome.
At Poetry Breakfast we read our favourite (published) poems on a given theme. We enjoy coffee and croissants, and the very best of poetry. You are very welcome to bring poems to read aloud, or if you prefer, just sit back and listen. By the way, we don’t analyse, we just enjoy! A fabulous way to start your day.
We Need to Talk About Books is an opportunity to gather with passionate readers who all want to talk about the books they’ve most enjoyed recently. Always fun: the only downside is that your ‘to be read’ pile will grow alarmingly! With coffee and Anna’s homemade biscuits, this is the kind of conversational space book-lovers dream of.
Exploring Poetry meets every couple of months or so and is an in-depth discussion of the life and work of 20th Century poets. Led by Ali Redgrave, poets covered so far include Seamus Heaney, Elizabeth Bishop, WH Auden and Stevie Smith. Think university tutorial – but without the homework requirement!
And as for our occasional events, sign up for the newsletter to be the first to know! This year we are looking forward to our second Poetry in the Barn – headline poet Owen Sheers on July 5th – you can book your place now by emailing Anna on the address below.
(yes this is still the right email!)
